Student Feedback - HAZWOPER Spill Response Team Training

All Training Courses Listed Below were Developed and Delivered by John Wiemhoff, currently the Primary Consultant with JRW Environmental Consultants, Inc.)

The Pillsbury Company (Belvidere, IL)

In this training example, we were asked to provide 24-Hour HAZWOPER HAZMAT Technician Level training to a combined study body (8 Belvidere Fire Department members and 12 Pillsbury Company Internal Spill Response Team Members). The third day of training also included a joint (industry spill response team; fire department) full scale ammonia release simulation and response.

Note: The Pillsbury Belvidere frozen food products operation is extensive and includes one of the largest food-related anhydrous ammonia systems in the country (in excess of 80,000 pounds of ammonia in the largest receiver alone).

Student Responses:

"Very good site specific training (e.g., Food Industry-Anhydrous Ammonia); Presented well; Instructor knowledgeable about subject matter" (Allen Watts, Pillsbury)

"A very beneficial course when you either work for a company with hazardous materials, or have to respond to hazardous materials incidents" (Alan Hyser, Belvidere Fire Fighter)

"Excellent Course" (Scott Balsamo, Pillsbury, Regional Safety Manager)
